Ranchos Church by Georgia O'Keeffe

Ranchos Church
Circa 1930, by Georgia O'Keeffe (American, 1887 - 1986). Oil on canvas, 24x36 inches. at The Phillips Collection in Washington DC

sent to Anthony in Canada! He asked for music recommendations, so of course I wrote him Big Mama Thornton, my favorite blues artist. I've also been listening to a lot of latin pop lately, like Pierdo la Cabeza and Sigueme te Sigo.

прывітанне з Беларусі

I love this postcard from Olga in Belarus. It's a USSR postcard from 1981 showing a traditional embroidery pattern.

It is a very bright red in person. I really really want to make this!

She says: "прывітанне з Беларусі"
pronounced: "pryvitannie z Bielarusi"
translated: "Greetings from Belarus!"

Stamps!

Last concert: 30 Seconds to Mars (jealous!)

Book(s): Discworld series by Terry Prattchet - I know, I need to read these!

Thank you Olga!

swap-bot quotecard

Karla from Georgia sent me a quilt postcard!!! This is definitely one of my favorites!

I told her I'd send her a photo of my first amigurumi since she encouraged me to try it :)

Her quote was a "Star Quote" cut out from a magazine:

"Love is fascinating. Wishing for it, pining for it and the anger that comes when you lose it. I used to think that I could figure out some pattern to love, like if you don't text a guy back for a half-hour, he'll like you more. But there is no pattern. Absolutely nothing is predictable in love." - Taylor Swift

Safe & Sound

Got this postcard 10 September, 2012

From Caorun via Postcrossing.
She's a middle-schooler in China!
Her favorite singer is Avril Lavigne,
and she loves a sing named Safe&Sound by Taylor Swift.
I had not heard of this some, and I'm generally not a big Taylor fan, but this song is awesome. Thanks Caorun for letting me know about it!

Sprout 2001

I received this postcard today from Yu-Hsin Chen in Taiwan!

She said how funny Barney is on How I Met Your Mother (So true!) and asked for music recommendations. Well! Here's what I told her: The Lumineers - Ho Hey, Mumford & Sons, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Johnny Cash, Avenged Sevenfold, and the Allman Brothers Band.

I love the card, and I would love to visit Taiwan someday. It's on my bucket list!

Is love alive?

Earlier in 2012 I received this postcard from Brittany Ukulele, who asked what music makes me cry. I sent this postcard to her August 11, 2012:

I wrote down 2 songs that make me sentimental (for clarification, I do not cry). The Harry Potter soundtrack, because it's all over and it was such a big part of me for so long. Also, Winter Song by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson because it reminds me of my sister Jennifer. She lives very far away and I miss her very much.

Cinematic Orchestra

This is from Brittany Ukulele in Indianapolis, Indiana. Postmarked 23 July 2012.
She writes:
"What music makes you cry? Lately I have been entrances by instrumental melodies that completely stop me in my tracks. To Build A Home - Cinematic Orchestra <3 Brittany"

** Update: you can see my response here.
