Latvian Museum of Natural History

Postcrossing card received from Anda in Latvia. This was a perfect postcard! Black and white, viewcard (ish, it's an old photograph), beautiful stamps, and a translation.

Latvian Museum of Natural History
The Latvian Museum of National History is a national history museum in Riga, Latvia. It was founded in 1869 by the Riga Latvian Society. Since 1920 it has been located in Riga Castle and in 1924 it attained state museum status. Its mission is "to collect, preserve, research and popularise spiritual and material culture from Latvia and the world from ancient times until today, which has archaeological, ethnographic, numismatic, historical or artistic significance, in the interests of the Latvian nation and its people".

Stamps!

Adorable sticker with translation in Latvian.

Japan

My mother bought me this postcard the last time she was in Japan, which is where she grew up (cool, huh?).

The colors are so much more vibrant in person. Sent to someone on sendsomething with very similar interests to me! Future penpal maybe?

Napali, Hawaii

A book of Hawaii postcards was purchased for me by my Uncle.

Sent to Brett from sendsomething. He had sent me a postcard way back in February 2013 and I found it recently while cleaning. Yikes!

A New Place!

Sending this musical postcard to the Czech Republic!

I visited Brason when I was little, at least once or twice. My parents went to one of those timeshare meetings where they pay for your trip if you hear their marketing pitch. There were tornados just before we got there, and a tree was sticking out of our hotel. It was a crazy vacation! I remember the shopping, and the Branson "strip" - I've also heard it called the Vegas of the midwest.

Mila is a medical student. She was listening to "The Promise - Secret Garden" whilst writing this card. Mila loves October and Autumn (me too!), classical music and 30 Seconds to Mars.

Strusta Lake - according to the map, this is somewhere near Mila :)

All that we see or seem

As much as I love postcards, there is nothing quite like receiving a hand-written letter in the mail. All the more special when there are other surprises inside. Knowing someone took the time, thought and energy to send you something original is just wonderful.

Something Blue from sendsomething.net sent me this marvelous package. I mean, just look at the envelope!

front

back

This is from quite the Poe fan, I don't know if you can tell? (look at that vintage stamp!) As part of the set, I received a few little extras...

Along with a very macabre printout of Poe in his coffin, with an anecdote about his death.
True, Something Blue, 'Tis the season, after all. ;)

There was a card with a lovely letter inside, in beautiful calligraphy. This was, in fact, a tagback letter from a Wizard of Oz postcard I had sent earlier this month. I'll have to think of something creative to send back :)

Happy Halloween,

Charlie

Commodore

Posting this strange postcard at the witching hour on the most witch-ing-est of days. Halloween is my favorite holiday, I absolutely love all of the traditions from around the world (especially Dia de los Muertos).

Anyway, back to the postcard...

Congratulations on the wedding, Stephanie!

PS. Because I like interesting facts: The Hotel Commodore was originally built and opened on January 28, 1919 but is now the Grand Hyatt New York.

A Business Trip

I received a most interesting postcard: A woman from Moscow sent a Russian postcard with Deutschland stamps, postmarked at Briefzentrum 80 (Munich). Wow!

I would love to know where/what this place is!

Congrats on the engagement, Polina!

Letter Box

Another tagback from Book Chick on sendsomething.net:

Last time: Fairies

The postmark on the back from 18 October 2014 says "Go Team San Francisco!"

I think it's awesome that the post office is supporting their team (Giants versus Royals in the Series right now, btw).

Also, I love the regulars on sendsomething that always tagback!
