swap-bot quotecard
Karla from Georgia sent me a quilt postcard!!! This is definitely one of my favorites!
I told her I'd send her a photo of my first amigurumi since she encouraged me to try it :)
Her quote was a "Star Quote" cut out from a magazine:
"Love is fascinating. Wishing for it, pining for it and the anger that comes when you lose it. I used to think that I could figure out some pattern to love, like if you don't text a guy back for a half-hour, he'll like you more. But there is no pattern. Absolutely nothing is predictable in love." - Taylor Swift

Vintage Postcard of the Week #10
#10 - A Joyful Easter
A Joyful Easter sent to Miss Mary White in Lushton, Nebraska
(I had to look it up. There might be 10 houses. Seriously, look:)
"From your cousins Isabelle, Sarah, Sam (?), and Margaret"
Postmarked April 1911 in Peru Nebraska.
On an aside, My paternal great-grandmother's maiden name was White, and she was from Peru. Wouldn't it be neat if I were related to whomever wrote this card? Gives me the chills.

Vintage Postcard of the Week #8
#8 - Tuck's Happy New Year
Raphael Tuck & Sons "New Year Postcards" Series No. 145
Art Publishers to their Majesties the King & Queen
Printed in Saxony (probably why some of it's in german; i.e. "postkarte")
by Appointment
"Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! From Marcella."
Sent to Miss Frances in 1910
***I love the coat of arms in the top left, it was used by the Tuck company for some time. The animal on the right is a Unicorn!
Tuck is one of the most recognized names in postcard publishing. They produced a wide variety of cards and published an enormous amount of valentines. The company began sometime in the late 1800s, founded by Raphael Tuck. Designing was done in their London offices, while the cards were printed in Germany as were many of the cards produced prior to WWII. (source)
I found many more Tuck cards at this site.
I especially like this one:

Vintage Postcard of the Week #7
#7 - Boating on Shawnigan Lake, Vancouver, B.C.
published by T. N. Hibben & Co., Victoria, B.C.
Apparently this company published picture postcards from 1902 - 1914 (source).
sent from Vancouver on April 23, 1910 to Wisconsin.
The torn-up back is why people should never glue postcards into scrapbooks. Grr.

Received my package for the Thriftstore Find #30 - USA swap!

Thanks for the letter!
Fabric for my quilt!!!
Both are vintage cotton.
A blank postcard:
Ornamented column, Archaeological Museums, Istanbul.
Marble, Byzanz, 5th c.

Swap-bot Getting To Know You
This swap only had 1 partner each, and you were to write a letter answering a series of questions, and include a gift for that person. I sent a handwritten letter to Jana, included some of my vintage paper for her paper-crafts, and sent it in a handmade envelope.
I was SO outdone!
Kristy sent me a typed letter, and included a TON of stuff! In addition to a tea bag, she sent me all this stuff:
